Jutta-Pilz

Jutta Pilz started her artistic career in London in the mid 80s where she attended Richmond College.  Returning to Australia in 1991 she started her own business “Garasu Art Studio” in Mudgeeraba on the Gold Coast.

Her mediums are winterstone, glass, clay, hebel and metal.  Some of Jutta’s work can be found at Jupiters Casino, Chevron Renaissance, The Platinum on the Beach, the Aqua Building in Surfers Paradise, Crown Plaza Pelican Waters (Caloundra) and the Lyrebird Retreat in Springbrook.

Her commissions include public art works at the Norm Rix Park, the Council Building in Evandale, Silverwater Resort (Vic) and Ramada Resort Hervey Bay (QLD).

She visits summer schools in Canberra and Toowoomba to expand her knowledge in sculpture.  2007 she completed a course in kiln forming and cold working glass at the University of Canberra with Richard Whiteley.

Artist Statement
Series:  I Simply Must Fly

I feel swept by the winds of time.
Although I live in Australia my dreams carry me to the place of my youth on the other side of the world – or, to a distant country I have never been to.  Once I fly across the globe I leave reality behind – or – are the dreams reality?
My interpretation of wings in the series “I Simply Must Fly” signify the flight of body & mind
